Indiana Governor's China
In 2001 the Indiana WOCP undertook a grand project of seeing that china painting had a place in Indiana history by painting a service of china for the governor's mansion. This project was initiated by then Indiana WOCP president Phyllis Gladden. The china consisted of 30 seven piece place settings and 30 serving pieces all painted by 60 IWOCP members with the motif of different Indiana wildflowers.
The initial presentation was made to Indiana First Lady Judy O'Bannon at the IWOCP convention in April.
Mrs. O'Bannon then held a special luncheon later for all the artists at the governor's mansion in Indianapolis. The china was displayed in the mansion for all the members to see.
This special legacy lives on for the people of Indiana.
